There is an abundance of wildlife to be seen along the West Coast of Scotland. The list is endless, but below are the details of a few of the animals and birds viewed by guests staying at Tigh Brachen, either from the sunroom overlooking the bay or the surrounding area. Sighted in Loch Diabaig
A regular visitor to Loch Diabaig, hunting and sunning itself on the rocks at the end of the pier
Sighted in Loch Diabaig and Gairloch
A dog otter is a regular visitor to Loch Diabaig and seen by many guests from the sunroom. A mother and cub has also been spotted in 2008 hunting in the bay.
A regular visitor to the garden most nights, looking for its favourite - peanuts, jam and raisins!
Regularly seen in Glen Torridon, along the Torridon to Diabaig road, and the walks directly from the house.
Birds
A first for me! Sighted over Loch Diabaig on 2006 New Year's Eve. Both wings had blue tags
Regularly sighted fishing on Loch Diabaig
Sighted on the Fairy Lochs Walk, Gairloch (See walks page). You hear them before you see them!
A common sight all around Torridon and on the hills above Loch Diabaig
Frequently seen in Loch Diabaig (if not daily!) trying to swallow enormous fish and sunning themselves.
Frequently seen in Loch Diabaig, especially bathing in the fresh water which runs into the Loch at the end of the road.

Regularly sighted from Tigh Brachen fishing around Loch Diabaig
Sighted from the house fishing along the shoreline of Loch Diabaig
Sighted hunting around Loch Diabaigas, above Tigh Brachen Seen (and heard) most days feeding at the end of the pier or along the shoreline
Ptarmigan - she performed her broken wing display to distract us from her chicks!

Pair seen regularly fishing in the bay and also sighted on Loch Shieldaig
Sighted on small shingle beach on the Shieldaig pennisula walk. Young chick photographed (see photo album page)
Others This little chap ran up my trouser leg while climbing Beinn-na-h-eaglaise. This caused a few moments of laughter and jumping about!!!
