Below are the latest comments from guests who have stayed at Tigh Brachen.
30 October 2009, Hawthorn family, Newcastle upon Tyne Fantastic - Scotland's answer to a safari lodge - and a tardis too! Super warm and draughtless. Have walked, biked, run and canoed, and just watched the wildlife. 'Otterly' marvelous!
30 October 2009, The Doran Family, Newcastle upon Tyne Great week. House very comfortable for 7. Walked, climbed, cycled, fished (only mackerel), kayaked, etc. Drank - lots!... and the honour of a face to face encounter with pine marten. Thank you.
24 October 09, Bloomer family, Shetland Talk about remote. It is great here. Lots of wildlife- my mum saw 2 sea eagles, amazing! Very comfortable and in beautiful surroundings. I've enjoyed all the walks. We had incredible weather. The road was pretty scary - fingers crossed for brakes not failing on the way down the hill!
10 October 09, Craig Bunyan, Glasgow Had a brilliant time. Weather spectacular - this is a truly beautiful part of the world. Kishorn seafood bar provided excellent food on Friday evening.
12 September 09, Webster family, Roxburghshire Magic, all round great fun.
29 August, Catherine, Stuart & guests, London Excellent time. Thank you very much. "Potting shed" restaurant at Applecross highly recommended and Badachro Inn and the fortnightly "cafe" at the Torridon village hall. Walks and wildlife good.
15 August 09, Walmesley Family, Chorley, Lancashire Another fabulous week - we've all had a great time, seen some amazing wildlife and observed braver visitors tackling the hills!
8 August, Cross Family, St Albans Beautiful setting. Weather has been kind with great walks. Children braved the water for swimming. Best located sofa in Scotland! Reluctant to move on.
25 July 09, Ian Porteous & friends, Liverpool This is a great house! Some interesting sleeping arrangements with 7 singles! Weather varied as you can expect, but some great treks on the mountains in either case. The loch is really warm! Mark decided to do all of Beinn Eighe, Liathach & Beinn Alligin range peaks in one day, the rest of us took 3 days to do the same. Watch out for the Pinnacles on Liathach, which are well scary! A very enjoyable time had by all and we will certainly consider returning next year.
3 July 09, Eileen and Allan Anderson & Hamish MacBeth the Lab, Begbroke, Oxfordshire Our best holiday ever - perfect all round - wildlife, location, cottage, weather. We're so sorry to have to leave!! Thank you
20 June 09, Allan & Hana Sutherland, Anne Duncan, Edinburgh What a location! Weather brilliant first 4 days then not so good. Walking every day anyway. Saw Mr Otter most mornings. House is excellent but needs a bigger fridge! Will be back again without doubt.
13 June 09, The Mackenzie Family, Lytham St Annes Fished to no avail off pier! Walked up to Craig. Had a wee swim in the sea (V. warm). BBQ, beers and stellar homemade curry. Absolutely fabulous accommodation in pristine condition. Weather and company great. Thanks for a great holiday.
6 June 09, The Phillips Family, Huston, Texas We really love this place!! I really wish that the people that come here will love it as much as we did. The house is huge, yet homely and clean.
9 May 09, Richard & Pat Maud, Skipton, N. Yorks Marvellous setting, unfortunately spoiled by atrocious weather. We knew the film Lochness was filmed at Torridon but until we watched it again the other night, we didn't realise how much was filmed in this bay!
1 May 09, John & Julie Harrison, George & Pam Bartlett, Belfast and Texas Weather not quite as good as last year, but not bad. Saw the otter on many occasions, and the pine marten only once. We saw many birds and the wild goats were down around the seashore quite often. A day at Applecross was great. Fish Loch Damph was so-so. We will be Back!
25 April 09, Angela Robertson & Friends, Caithness Once again amazed by the beauty and comfort in this place. Weather mild and some sunny days.
18 April 09, Banks & Chapman, Fife Having spent a week here in October in terrible weather, this week has been completely the opposite - glorious weather every day bar one, so lots of walking, which has been great. P&C bagged their first munro - Tom na Gruagaich - in brilliant sunshine on Wednesday and declared it the best day of the holiday!
6-12 December 08, Paul and Caroline Haigh, Northumberland. The peace and quite and the magnificence of the area made this a wonderful break, the house is fantastic, can’t fault it anyway. I am sure we will be back.
1-7 November 08, McGreevy, Carlisle A wonderful week of fine weather giving glorious views everywhere. Hardly moved out of the sun room when in the house, just watched the views and the moonlight.
1 November 08, Harry & Anne Pearson, Ayrshire A perfect place to celebrate a special Birthday and 10th wedding anniversary. Loved the house, the views, the wildlife, the walks – everything !!
24 October, Chapman family, Fife This is a FAB house! The views are great. The scenery in this part of Scotland is fabulous and I had a great holiday here. The house was clean, cosy and very welcoming – just what we needed after the rain, sleet, snow and gale force winds! Our whale watching trip at gairloch was abandoned ˝ way through due to bad weather but was fun anyway! Managed to walk around to Wester Alligin and back on 1st day and to coral beaches at Applecrosse on 2nd day. Drove to Ullapool, Gairloch and Fort George, near Inverness and had some exciting driving in snow and high winds. Would definitely come here again. Beautiful scenery, especially with snow on mountain tops.
18 October 08 Mcquiston family, Glasgow Beautiful house, stunning view, amazing wildlife. Kids had a great time.
20 September 08, MacDonald, Durham Delightful cottage and location. Like many visitors before us we enjoyed spotting the wildlife.
13 September 08, Whitty, Melbourne Australia We must have upset the wildlife, either that or we weren’t looking hard enough. I came to Torridon in the ‘80s and bagged Slioch, Liathach, Ruadh Stac Mor and Beinn Eighe and later came back for Beinn Allign. It was a stunningly beautiful area and little has changed. Superb accommodation and position well appointed clean. Thank you.
30 August - 6 September 08, The Cumbrians Wonderful location – productive fishing, relaxing kayaking – early walking. Otters every day – lobsters from the delightful chloe – weather sun-shine and showers – road interesting! In all a fabulous holiday good job we brought our own BBQ (now in garage!!)
23-30 August 08, Everatt family and Konieczny, Whitsable & Spain What can we say that hasn’t already been said! – lovely house, beautiful, awe inspiring surroundings changeable weather, that never stopped us from doing things such as fishing, canoeing, walking, eating, drinking, talking, laughter, flying kites, looking through our binoculars at the wildlife, boat trips to see whales etc! But you never mentioned the road into Diabaig!! Lovely neighbours. We are sad to leave – thank you.
Jules K, 11 years – lovely time, went fishing every day at 6am. At the loch at the top of the hill and went canoeing round the bay 2 times.
9-23 August, Morgan Family, Doncaster Beautiful views, who could ask for more? Fantastic house and well maintained (thank you). We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Fishing, wildlife watching and having fun in the water. Lovely friendly neighbours. Glorious 2 weeks. Midge free (only when dreaming!) Hope you enjoy it as much as us.
2-9 Aug 08, Warmsley Family, Chorley, Lancs Best house we’ve stayed in (and we know what we’re saying). Recommend Chloe ˝ way up the road for boat and fishing trips. Eaten fresh crab from our lobster pots and have had fresh Pollock from the boats. The walks are brill and the mountain coffee shop in Gairloch should be visited. We will see you next year!!
27 July – 2 August 08, King, Stafford Fantastic view and weather. Really liked the cottage ideal for us. Great time had by all.
12-26 July 08, Carlisle family, Northern Ireland Our second visit here. Magical. A treat of wildlife. Applecross run was wonderful and lunch in The Potting Shed excellent food. If you find yourselves in Gairloch the Mountain Coffeee Company is a great bookshop/coffee shop. Scones are something else!!
5-12 July 08, Tracey & Robin Pilbeam, Karen & Steve Powell, Staffs A stunning location and a very tidy and well kept house, great views at the back of the house – up the hill spent hours just watching all the wildlife. 14-21 June 08, Angela & Roger Hissett & Ben, old golden retriever, Prestwick, Ayrshire Lovely cottage, with fantastic views. Everything was perfect. Very clean & welcoming. Nice plants in the garden particularly the scree garden. A great place to spend a holiday. We saw otters, pine marten, goats and lots of birds from the garden.

26 April 08, The Gallagher Family, Manchester Arrived on the 19th Apr, a beautifully sun glazed reception. We sat at your table savouring the moments, the house, the view, and what a fabulous holiday we’ve had. Photos to remind us of the fantastic sunset – the relaxing after the walks – the fun with little Thomas who has glowed in the fresh air, giggled at the birds and knows wind in his face! Thank you for providing such comfort – we have appreciated it all – would love to return!
26 April 08, Emma, Jonathan & Baby Thomas What a fantastic place for our baby to have his first holiday! An amazing place, wish we could stay longer – defo be back next year!
26 April 08, Lucy Gallagher Thank you for such an amazing holiday. Having spent many of my 24 years visiting Scotland this has to be the most spectacularly beautiful place we’ve stayed yet – helped by a week of sunshine and my first proper otter viewing! Have absolutely loved it here and will be back. Thank you for your perfect house.
11 April 08, The Chittenden & Bourke Families, Thame Oxfordshire Stunning!! First time in Scotland and I think it will be difficult to find a more idyllic setting. Superb House! We will be back!! Peaceful, relaxing holiday. Wonderfully proportioned house. Good to be at one with nature. Took 900 photographs!
5 April 08, Helen Coutie, Hazel, Thomas & George Radcliffe, W Yorks We all love the house. It’s very well thought about. We all love the views surrounding Tigh Brachen. Hazel went into the sea on Wednesday and got covered in salt water from head to toe. She even swallowed some! George was happy enough just washing stones on the beach! Dayspring the ship-wrecked boat and Helen thought that the weather was lovely! Thank you so much for letting us stay. Please let us come again!
29 March 08, Dave & Sharon Tidswell, W Yorks. We have had a fabulous week. Wonderful house, loved relaxing in the sun room. Had a terrific mix of weather from heavy snow (scary trip back to the cottage with an inch of snow on road) to 2 days of unbroken sunshine. Got sunburnt trekking through a mountain valley with snow drifts, took us 5 hours but well worth it. Great food at Applecross Inn and Badachro In. Fabulous fabulous time, Thank you.
23 February 08, The Barnes Family, Yorkshire We have had a very relaxing and restful holiday. Enjoyed some superb walking, Beinn Dearg, Beinn Eighe, Craig bothy.
